Download the Here We Go Again liner notes

I’ve been doing some business housekeeping lately (in anticipation of some big things that are happening around here that I can’t talk about yet but that are so exciting!) and it occurred to me that many of you purchased my last release digitally. If you bought Here We Go Again through iTunes, Amazon, or CD Baby then you did not have access to the liner notes. This is a shame because Jessica Comingore designed the liner notes (as she did all of the album artwork) and they are very beautiful.

Nearly three years after the release I have finally come to my senses and posted the PDF online for all to enjoy. Click here to download the liner notes. Inside you will find all the album artwork, lyrics, thank you’s, and more.

here we go again turns one year old today!

Here We Go Again

Can you believe it?? A year ago today Mark Ferguson and I released our first collaborative album containing twelve original songs. In the past year, Here We Go Again has received radio play on over 230 stations worldwide and over 5000 track plays on Bandcamp.

If you’re feeling nostalgic like me, take a second to watch the Here We Go Again EPK which contains footage from the recording and release of the album.

And here is a photo taken by Claude Brazeau at the release concert.

Here We Go Again review round up!

Here We Go AgainOver the last couple of months there have been some great reviews of Here We Go Again around the jazz blogosphere, my press page has pretty much exploded! So many nice things have been said that I wanted to share some of my favourite quotes with you. If you want to read the entire review, just click on the name and publication. Here we go (again!)

C. Michael Bailey, all about jazz:

“Intimate may best describe [Here We Go Again]. Yoxon’s writing and voice are clearly out there with no net. Even on the more up-tempo ‘Just As We Are,’ Yoxon sings as if telling a humorous secret.”

John Book, This Is Book’s Music:

“In songs like ‘There’s Only You’, ‘Have We Been In Love Before?’ and the passionate ‘Drinking Coffee’, you hear someone who sings from personal experience, as if each song is a small note meant to be put up on the wall before its adhesiveness fades and becomes another not-so-distant memory”

John Peters, The Borderland:

“Ms Yoxon has a fine voice – intense and full of clarity and resolve. This is matched by Mr Ferguson’s piano and trombone and together they have certainly created something very special as a debut album.”

Brian Arsenault, The International Review of Music:

“Something [from Here We Go Again] may enter the Great American Songbook, maybe more than one.”

Susan Frances, Yahoo! Voices:

“A collection of original jazz compositions that explore the themes of love and loss, Here We Go Again has torch song clarity with fissures of folk, blues, and Judy Garland-tinged soul.”

That’s it for now! Thank you to everyone who took the time to listen to Here We Go Again and write such thoughtful reviews. If you are interested in reviewing Here We Go Again please contact Kari Gaffney from Kari-On Productions.

Here We Go Again: Video EPK

I can’t contain my squeals of joy! Eeeeee! I’m so excited to share this incredible video EPK for my latest album, Here We Go Again. This video was shot by Tim Smith and Pixie Cram, and also edited by Pixie. It contains footage from the CD release in Ottawa, from the recording studio, and an exclusive interview with me and Mark Ferguson.

This video has been a long time in the making and it’s an absolute delight to finally be able to share it with my fans, friends, family, and readers.

As you can probably imagine, there is hours more behind-the-scenes footage from the recording sessions. I hope to one day edit them and release some cool new videos. Stay tuned for that. In the mean you can check out some behind-the-scene photos here or check out some my favourite screenshots from the EPK below.

If you’re interested in buying Here We Go Again, you can do so on Bandcamp, iTunes, or CD Baby.

5 fun facts about Bandcamp + a giveaway ***closed***

bcscreen_cover

It’s no secret that I really love bandcamp.com. I sell my music on CD Baby, iTunes, in stores, at shows, and lots of other places, and I find that Bandcamp offers just the right mix of flexibility and control. Unfortunately, not many people know about Bandcamp or have any experience buying music there. I thought I would take a few minutes to explain some of my favourite Bandcamp feature. At the bottom of this post there’s a cool giveaway too!

1. The merch tab

When you first visit reneeyoxon.bandcamp.com it looks like the image above, taking you to my most recent release, Here We Go Again. Everything you need is on this page but if you want a clearer view of my physical merch you can click on the “merch” tab in the navigation bar and it should look like this:

bcscreen3In my merch tab I am selling physical CDs and books of sheet music. Click on either of these products will take you back to the first page where you can buy them.

2. Digital download included with all physical merch

This is my favourite feature. One of the draws in buying digital music is the immediacy of your purchase. You get to listen to the album right away. With Bandcamp, if you buy a physical CD or a book of sheet music you will receive a digital download of the album with your purchase for immediate listening. You can even choose what format you would like: mp3, flac, ogg, they have it all!
