highlights: music, movies, and more movies

This was a bit of a challenging week for me. The weather turned cold and with any change in weather my body likes to throw a tantrum. I was confined to the couch for a few days and got up only out of necessity. When my pain flares I have to remember to practice amazing self-care, which includes lots of rest, eating well, and being extremely kind to myself. I came across this post on tumblr and it was a great reminder.

I watch A LOT of movies and television shows when I’m stuck at home. Luckily I freakin’ love movies and television shows. This week I watched Europa Report, Monsters, Kung Fu Panda, Sharknado, The Future, The Princess Diaries, Wreck-It Ralph, a few episodes of Archer, and all of BBC’s Sherlock. Whoa! That seems like a lot when I write it all out like that… If you have suggestions for future sick day movies (preferably something on Netflix) I would love to hear them.

When I wasn’t supine I was steeped in music. I took a little field trip out to Archambault which is an enormous book/music store in downtown Montreal. It was so divine to browse the stacks of vocal jazz but so hard to make a choice!

Later in the week Joshua Toal of The Key-Lites came over for an informal video shoot. I have been helping The Key-Lites with their social media profiles and branding to support their indiegogo campaign. They are a really fun soul band and the album is going to be amazing. If you haven’t already you should definitely pre-order their CD and support their campaign.

What did you get up to this week? Watch any good movies? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. Hi Renée! Wow, what a fantastic store – a HUGE selection & even a SIGN to show about Jazz Vocal – wow! Unheard of alot these days.

I don’t know what movies are on Netflix and it does sound like you’ve seen alot, but some of my favourites are: Green Mile, Dead Poet’s Society, In America, Memento, PS I Love You, Definitely Maybe, that fairly recent one with Sandra Bullock & Ryan ? (I always get them mixed up), To Kill A Mockingbird, Schindler’s List, Guess who’s coming to dinner, To Sir with Love, that one with Audrey Hepburn and she’s blind, …. Haha! I guess I’ve seen a lot of movies too! Have fun!

P.S.: Is that your piano? Wow, I can’t imagine moving that around…

    • Hi Betty Ann, Archambault is amazing – if you every visit Montreal you’ll have to check it out.

Thanks for the movie suggestions. I’ve seen a few from your list but not all of them.

The piano actually belongs to my parents, although someday it will belong to me. I just need to stay in one place long enough!
