highlights: my home is a blank canvas

I’m finally all settled into my new home in Montreal. All the boxes are unpacked and every object has a home. I even assembled a brand new Expedit bookshelf from IKEA so I can finally bring some order to my ever-growing collection of books, CDs, binders of music, and magazines.

Now that everything has a place, the apartment has an unusual serenity about it. Just being in my new home fills me with the kind of excitement I imagine a painter must feel when looking upon a clean, white canvas. I’m excited to fill my home with plants and art and music and memories. I’m excited to make messes and watch movies and read and cook meals and teach students and blog! I must be the dictionary definition of a homebody.

What do you like to do at home?
