highlights: my weekend in newfoundland

Quick housekeeping: My Week In Pictures will now be called Highlights. There’s no reason in particular for the change, I’m just trying something new on for size. And now, on with this week’s highlights.

On Friday, I hopped on a plane and took my first trip out east, to St. John’s, Newfoundland. Amidst all the preparation for the big move to Montreal I didn’t have a second to mentally prepare myself for such an abrupt change of scenery. For the last two month’s I’d been daydreaming about leisurely strolling out my new front door and seeing the leaves starting to change all over Mont Royale, about my new desk cluttered with Montreal coffee, and bagels, and an arm-length list of blogging inspiration to get to work on. Then all of a sudden I’m soggy and being dropped off on Freshwater Road in a place called Rabbit Town.

Once I got dried off, I got over the initial shock of the change pretty quickly. My host was lovely and she prepared a calm, clean room for me. We got along really well and soon I was enjoying the serenity as I decompressed from my flight. I didn’t have much time to rest though because that night I was whisked away to a bachelorette party!

The weekend culminated in a beautiful wedding for my friends, Rhea and Chad. They were absolutely thrilled with the way the day unfolded and I’m so happy to have been included in such a special way. I hope that next time I visit the rock I get to stay long enough to take in much more of what it has to offer. I’m happy to be home though because I’m eager to get my office set up in my new Montreal apartment!
