lovely lyrics: we kiss in a shadow

We kiss in a shadow
We hide from the moon
Our meetings are few and over too soon

We speak in a whisper
Afraid to be heard
When people are near we speak not a word

Alone in our secret
Together we sigh
For one smiling day to be free

To kiss in the sunlight
And say to the sky
Behold and believe what you see
Behold how my lover loves me

– lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein, 1951

  1. Wow. That’s really beautiful and so so sad too. It brought me to tears even.

    • Aw, I’m glad these lyrics touched you. They are from the musical The King And I. This song is sung in the scene where Tuptim and Lun Tha declare their love for each other even though they fear the King of Siam. I haven’t seen it yet but it’s definitely on my list.
