My Week In Pictures: party central / back to work

Another week of celebrating, working, practicing, and all-around good times. This week was kicked off with the amazing third anniversary of Live Jazz Monday at Mercury Lounge. There were doughnuts and squiggly birthday candles, and party hats, and balloons! For more pictures from that evening, click here.

Tuesday was spent rehearsing for the Gershwin tribute concert that I participated in on Saturday. Mark and I got together on Tuesday morning and ran everything. We also did some planning for the Here We Go Again CD release! Tuesday evening we met with the whole band at Knox Presbyterian and had a run through

On Wednesday I went down to the CBC studio on Queen Street and recorded a promo spot for the Gershwin concert. I love visiting the CBC because it’s fun to spend time with all the lovely people there, and see everyone hard at work producing amazing Canadian content.

On Thursday it was Craig’s 29th birthday! We kicked off the day with breakfast at Baker Street Café on Richmond Road and finished the day by buying a mini-pie and pint of ice cream at Metro. We’ve been hitting the junk food pretty hard. No regrets though, I think the novelty of being an adult with the option of buying a mini-pie at any hour of the night will wear off soon. Probably not though. The official Craigmas celebration was held on Friday night. A handful of friends came over and we had shared an Auntie Loo’s cake while presenting Craig with his birthday present. Everyone pitched in to get him an espresso machine. It’s been on his wish list for as long as I’ve known him so it was really fun to turn that dream into a reality. We spent the rest of the weekend jacked up on amazing espresso.

On Saturday the Gershwin concert went off without a hitch. Hundreds of people attended the concert in support of Knox Presbyterian’s Out Of The Cold program, a program that provides meals to people in need during the winter. Afterwards there was a reception where I got to meet everyone.

On Sunday I spent the day at Morning Anthem studio recording the last of My Pal Frishberg, a tribute project to Dave Frishberg. I can’t say when this project will become something real that you can buy, but if I had to estimate I would say late 2013 or early 2014. So exciting!

So that’s it for this week! For more photos updated throughout the week, follow me on instagram.

My next performance is tonight, November 12th at the Mercury Lounge for Live Jazz Monday – 9pm to 11pm, no cover. See you there!
