Ash Zvonham (she/they) is a classically-trained singer and voice coach from the capital area of Michigan in the US. She started her career looking to teach music in public schools, acquiring degrees in Music Education (BSEd) and Music Performance (BFA) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, but has since shifted to focus on what she feels is an incredibly important niche: vocal coaching for her fellow trans and non-binary people looking to shape their voices, both musically and conversationally.

She is currently teaching with Modulation Institute, an online voice-coaching group, and conducting in-person trans voice lessons at Wild Ferns Wellness Center in Lansing, MI, as well as moderating the Modulation Institute community discord. Emily Bate is a multi-disciplinary artist and harmony freak, working in music performance, theater, choral music and social practice. Emily founded and conducts a 65-member queer community chorus called Trust Your Moves, an experiment in collective singing designed around liberation and co-creation, based in Philadelphia. Maureen Batt (she/her) focuses on celebrating new music by collaborating with composers to commission, première, and re-perform their works. Her discography includes ECMA-winning Lighthouse (with Grej); JUNO-nominated Breathing in the Shadows; Aunt Helen; Mirror, Mirror; and Lady of the Lake. Celebrated for her “rich, warm sound and masterful acting” (Opera Canada), Maureen has created many Canadian opera roles. Maureen is the co-Artistic Director of Essential Opera with Erin Bardua, producing operas since 2010. In 2015, Maureen founded Crossing Borders, a contemporary Western art music recital series which has toured the United States, Canada, and Colombia as well as digital broadcasts. Maureen has commissioned and premièred many works for Crossing Borders and Essential Opera.

She has a Master of Music from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Music from Dalhousie University, and a Bachelor of Arts from St. Thomas University (French/Spanish). As a pedagogue, Maureen has been a regular vocal coach on faculty at the Halifax Summer Opera Festival, is a frequent festival adjudicator, and offers masterclasses and workshops on voice and movement play. She is a Wholeness in Motion practitioner and does ongoing professional development with Dr. Shannon Coates and Babette Lightner. Elizabeth “fig” Harris is a queer non-binary music therapist, music instructor, and art pop artist in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

They became a board-certified music therapist after they studied music therapy and jazz voice at Duquesne University (Class of 2017), and in 2020, she started her own business FIG NEW TUNES LLC, for private music therapy, music instruction, and their own music performance ventures and experiments.

She recently put out an album in February of 2022, called “Soft Animal”— an indie pop album about exploring the effects of trauma on self perception and interpersonal relationships. She has been creating music under “fig” since 2016; her classical voice juxtaposed with pop beats parallel the duality of her traditional Catholic upbringing and queer radicalism.

Fig dreams of a day where those two aren’t seen as conflicting. Biblically, figs are dualistic. They’re prosperous as often as their rotting signifies loss. Elizabeth sees her own duality as an internal fight, created because of society's expectations that we can only be one thing or nothing at all.

Soprano Erin Bardua is a soloist, voice teacher, and stage director. Erin's practice as an artist encompasses new composition, early music, the work of historically excluded and underrepresented artists, musical theatre, and commercial styles. Chris Donoso (he/him) is an ASHA certified queer speech-language pathologist (SLP), licensed in New Jersey and New York. He specializes in pediatric language services, alternative communication, feeding and swallowing disorders, voice disorders, and gender affirming voice modification.

During his graduate program, he learned about voice modification therapy, and wanted to learn more about providing that service for his community. Not being able to find a placement to learn how to provide gender affirming voice care, he started his own private practice and learned from people in the community and service providers from around the country. Camille Rogers (they/them) holds a Doctor of Musical Arts with a Collaborative Specialization in Sexual Diversity Studies from the University of Toronto. Their research, supported by the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship, investigates how problematic historical works of music theatre can be transformed and made relevant to today’s audiences through the bodies of modern queer performers.  

Camille has also been recognized for their work as Co-Artistic Director of Toronto’s queer opera collective OperaQ, and has been invited to speak at related events hosted by Against the Grain Theatre, Amplified Opera, the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, and VIVA! Youth Singers of Toronto.

 Onstage, Camille has been praised for their “tremendous stage presence” and “real flair for comedy” (Operaramblings).  Their “gossamer mezzo-soprano” (Mooney on Theatre) has been described as “even-keeled and grounded even in times of intense physicality” (Schmopera).  Camille most recently appeared as Suli/Suzie in Buddies in Bad Times’s world premiere of Pomegranate, and as Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas with OperaQ.  Other past engagements include the role of Lake in FAWN's collectively improvised techno opera Belladonna, Young Girl in The Marriage of Figaro with Opera Atelier, and the title role of L’Italiana in Algeri with MYOpera.

Erik Leuthäuser is an award-winning young German singer/songwriter/arranger/teacher based in Berlin using his native language and electronics to create his own concept of music somewhere between modern jazz and experimental pop. Based on his experiences as a young gay man in a big city such as Berlin the only way to be is honest and dedicated: In life and in music.

In May 2018 he released his 2nd studio record "Wünschen" on the prestigious record label MPS. Produced by American bass player Greg Cohen featuring Kurt Rosenwinkel (guitar) and Joey Baron (drums). He won several international jazz prizes e.g. 1st prize of the Ella Fitzgerald Vocal Jazz Competition 2018. Furthermore he sang background for Quincy Jones, George Benson, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Jacob Collier.

Erik holds a teaching position in Vocal Jazz at the Hochschule Osnabrück and also teaches at music schools in Berlin, at the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory in Nepal, as well as offering online trans vocal coaching.

Edith Boucher-Hazelton is a queer and gender non-conforming singer, instrumentalist, dancer, and gender-affirming voice teacher.

Hi! I’m Tanya. I’m a professional singer and songwriter with degrees in Music and Education from McGill University in Montreal, Canada and a diploma in Composition from Grant MacEwan University, my home town, Edmonton Alberta. I’ve written and produced 2 full length albums throughout the years and have performed throughout the city of Montreal and other cities in Canada. I have been a school music teacher for over 6 years and private music and voice coach for over 15 years. Although my training is in jazz and classical, my main teaching area in private coaching has been in pop singing and songwriting.

Talia Fuchs is a New York born, Montreal based music educator, vocal instructor, singer, improviser, composer, and theatre artist. An avid performer of contemporary music, she is known for integrating operatic and contemporary vocal styles, theatrical training, and improvisational exploration. This interdisciplinary approach extends to her vocal studio, where she has been teaching and singing a variety of styles, from classical to pop, for over 5 years. Merle Thordis enlivens the interdisciplinary field of music and movement and works as a freelance artist in the field of dance, music/vocal, performance, choreography and pedagogy. Merle studied eurhythmics/music and movement (B.A.) at the University of the Arts Berlin. Since 1998 they have been performing dance and music in various projects.

In collaboration with other artists they regularly develop creations in the transdisciplinary field of music/sound, speech, dance and video with respect to cultural, sociological and political topics. Hi, I’m Friede. I’m a gender nonconforming neurodivergent vocalist, instrumentalist, songwriter, vocal pedagogue and activist living in Berlin.

I’ve been teaching singing and trans vocal training for about 5 years now, including the Music University in Freiburg, several Music schools and my studio in Berlin and online. I continue to make my voice studio as safe as possible, queer friendly, trauma-informed and always in focus of what the student wants to work on.

I got my training in the music universities in Mannheim and Berlin and have a certificate of Somatic Voicework by Jeanie LoVetri, a genre-open somatic medically speaking up-to-date approach to voice pedagogy. I don’t have a pedagogy dogma, my teaching style is a mix of everything I found working for students.

I’m performing music with my own songs under my own name, Friede Merz. I self-produced all my releases, including my debut Denmark Street/ Daisy Lane and my hymns to hedonist city life Albion and Berlin 2020. Other current projects of mine are my duo alle bilder, the impro-noise duo ambivore and my anarchist a capella ensemble carebender.

I perform music in contexts of improvisation, song, experimental, off-classical, indie and continue to be a queer touring musician. I’m part of the Berlin collective Queer Cheer – community for “jazz” and improvised music, with which we won the Special Price of the jury at Deutscher Jazzpreis 2023.

In 2023 I published a statement on my homepage, that is on "abuse of power in German Jazz and Music Academia“, and that continues to make waves. I am co-initiator of Musicmetoo.de, a platform where people affected by any form of violence and discrimination in the German Music, can report their story anonymously, be it fan or artist, freelancer or employee. When I have free time, I go dancing in Berghain or go to concerts of my friends or chill at home.

Because of her theatrical background (and general personality), Julia’s online gender-affirming trans voice classes are full of creativity and playfulness. She also understands that working on your voice can be quite vulnerable, and she focuses on creating a comfortable and supportive environment.

Forest Kamerin is a nonbinary and trans singer, songwriter and teacher living in Brooklyn, where they write and perform their original music under the name Kamerin. They are currently recording their third album in Brooklyn.

Forest holds a Bachelor’s degree in music from Wesleyan University (2011) and is a graduate of the Mills Masters Composition program ('14), where they received the Paul Merritt Henry prize for excellence in string composition. After graduating from Mills, he collaborated regularly with inkBoat Physical Theater and Dance, writing and performing live musical accompaniment for a number of performances including Line Between (Seoul International Dance Festival), 99 Rituals, and the Storm in My House. Kamerin’s also had the honor of performing with Kronos Quartet, Seattle-based Degenerate Ensemble, William Winant Percussion Ensemble, Wax Poets Collective, and others.

In 2019, Forest co-founded the East Bay based Queer Choir with Kinsey Bell; the choir is still running! They also held free, monthly open sings for folks in the community. 

Forest has been teaching singing and piano to students of all ages for ten years, and loves to nerd out about music theory and help people sing or play the music they’re most excited about. They offer voice masculinization and voice feminization classes for gender conforming folks, in person and online.

Ri Baroche is a multi-disciplinary artist and facilitator, specialising in writing, performance, music, poetry, drag and voice work. She has been working within the arts and youth education for 8+ years, and is most interested, perhaps unsurprisingly for a non-binary transfemme, by the sparks and friction that come with bringing together seemingly opposed worlds and ideas, such as quantum physics and gender, climate change and comedy, and Britney and Beethoven, to name a few.

Ri has been a life-long voice fanatic and accents nerd, and loves being a gender-affirming voice coach, with a focus on trans voice from a mindful and supportive place. There are many potential nuances and challenges that come with finding your gender-affirming voice, and Ri offers an approach that is centred around the client and their, his or her needs, using her training and experience as a performer, singer and vocal practitioner and the listening and counselling skills honed in her completion of the CPCAB's Counselling Skills Level 2 course.

As has been true for Ri in her self-created entry into the arts world without an arts degree or formal background, there is no right or wrong way to find your voice, there is simply the energy you bring to it, and the path that you build before you.

She was recently nominated for a Trans+ award by Beyond Reflections charity in recognition of her service to the Hampshire LGBTQIA+ community. Her upcoming project for Spring 2025 is a football and arts project for queer youth aged 13-21 in Hampshire, offering combined sports and reflective creative sessions to better understand the challenges and joys that come with being an LGBTQIA+ young person and being active.

Rachael is a queer educator & performer with decades of experience on stages across the United States. For the last 25 years, she has been a Resident Artist at Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, Rhode Island where she has performed in over 65 plays & musicals.

As a teacher, she is committed to meeting students of all ages where they are & helping them achieve the vocal expression that allows their freest, fullest, most empowered selves to come forward whenever desired. As a faculty member of the Brown University/Trinity Repertory Company MFA Programs in Acting & Directing, she specializes in teaching Acting the Song, taking particular delight in 'queering the canon'-- encouraging students to dream into how musical storytelling can be used to tell their own unique stories & to tackle the material that speaks most urgently to them.

She is a graduate of the American Repertory Theatre's Institute at Harvard University, holds a BFA in Music Theatre from Illinois-Wesleyan University, has studied with Liz Jackson Hearns of Chicago's Voice Lab & is a graduate of Reneé Yoxon's Trans Voice Alteration course. Quinn is a nonbinary vocal coach with a testosterone influenced vocal tract and owner of Quintessential Voice Lessons LLC.

After receiving their bachelors of science in public health, they started their career as an educator of biological and natural sciences through Zoos, Museums and State Parks. Their journey of self discovery paired with over a decade of teaching experience led them to discover the world of affirming voice practices, advancing from student to teacher to establishing QVL in 2022.

Quinn’s teaching style is centered around creating a space where clients feel comfortable laughing, exploring, and letting their guard down. Their gender-expansive approach to teaching not only empowers individuals to embrace and express their authentic selves but also provides crucial support in navigating the deeply personal journey of affirming voice work. They specialize in working with neurodiverse clients and proudly share their library of learning tools and resources to support diverse learning styles.

To foster accessibility, they offer a self-evaluation sliding scale and annually fundraise for lesson scholarship opportunities. They offer feminine, masculine or androgynous voice classes online and in person.

When not teaching, Quinn enjoys baking bread, sewing extravagant kaftans, and taking their 9lb chihuahua Barabra on long walks through the “windy city”. Hannah-Rose is a genderfluid, queer/bi+ voice professional, choir leader, and musician. They are passionate about helping people connect inwardly and outwardly, through voice, song, music and the arts. 

With 20 years of voice teaching experience, Hannah-Rose now specializes in supporting trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people to align their voices with their sense of self, and build habits that feel right to them.

Hannah-Rose’s skills are based on comprehensive training, including trans voice alteration teacher training with Renée Yoxon (2024), voice coaching for trans and gender-diverse people with Gillie Stoneham (2023), and ‘queering vocal pedagogy, affirming trans and genderqueer singers’ with Dr. William Sauerland (2024). Hannah-Rose's approach is enriched by Estill Voice Training (2015, 2020), NVN teacher training (2007), and studies in vocal health, singing for health, music, dance, and yoga.

As co-founder and leader of GLOW, an inclusive LGBTQIA+ community choir, for a decade, Hannah-Rose creates supportive environments for vocal exploration. She also leads Resonance, a sing-for-trees choir, and Companion Voices, an end-of-life bedside singing group: she is dedicated to using voice and music for community connection, healing and activism.

Lisa Läng is a queer, non-binary singer specializing in Western classical and pop music. They are also a singing teacher, choir leader, and gender-affirming voice coach.

During their studies, Lisa often felt out of place in the Western classical singing world, as if living two separate lives: the normative, classical singer's life and the private, queer-feminist life. Since then, much has changed, and Lisa has brought these two worlds together:

Lisa is now part of the duo lis à lis, which creates queer-feminist Western classical music. Lisa leads two queer choirs and teaches singing and voice coaching lessons to queer individuals.

Lisa loves sharing the passion for the voice with others and empowering people to find their own. Lisa believes that everyone has a "good" voice within. People just need the right tools to explore and experiment with it.

As a white, able-bodied, neurotypical person, Lisa strives to create safer spaces for BIPoC, disabled, and neurodivergent individuals. Constantly learning about privileges, Lisa works to critically reflect on and challenge personal perspectives.

Rory Jack Cleator (he/they/il/iel) is a queer speech-language pathologist, and sole-practitioner of RJVC. Rory provides S-L-P services in the areas of functional and organic voice disorders, and gender-affirming voice training across Québec and the Northwest Territories.

At RJVC, they support individuals in achieving their goals using a client-centered, multi-disciplinary approach. As a queer speech-language pathologist, they hold a deep respect for members of marginalized communities and celebrate diversity and inclusion in their practice. They continue to educate themselves on neurodiversity affirming, trauma-informed, and culturally competent practices.

They received their Bachelor of Arts Honors degree in linguistics and psychology, with a concentration in speech and language from the University of Victoria. Their thesis research focused on voice/acoustics and the construction of gender in the queer community. They completed their Master of Health Sciences in S-LP from U of T, where they received the Tavistock Trust for Aphasia Student Prize for their exemplary work in adult community rehabilitation, as well as the Dr. Margaret L. Stoicheff Graduate Award in Speech-Language Pathology.

Outside of work, you'll find them gardening, walking their rescue dog, Archie, practicing ceramics, or learning a new recipe to share with friends.

Anna is a registered and certified Speech-Language Pathologist in Calgary, Alberta.  She is passionate about supporting trans and gender diverse individuals in experiencing joy with their voice, and works to tailor sessions to meet the needs of each individual client.

Anna has worked in gender affirming voice care since 2018 and is thrilled to have supported so many wonderful gender-diverse folks in that time. She offers virtual and in-person trans vocal coaching.

When Anna is not working with her school-aged and adult clients, she can be found teaching yoga, spending time with loved ones, or enjoying a delicious meal on a patio when it isn't freezing outside!
