One challenge I often hear from my trans voice students is that they may have success speaking in their target voice for short periods of time, but then struggle to maintain their new voice in longer conversations or when there are more people or distractions. The reason this happens is because of something called cognitive load.

Cognitive load is the amount of information your brain can hold onto at once. Practicing your new voice is an added task that you’re asking your brain to do. If you’re doing too many things, your brain has to choose which tasks to prioritize, so it pauses practicing your voice.

The GREAT news is that you can train your brain in multitasking by playing these games that help increase your cognitive load capacity. These games are fun and easy, but they strengthen your brain so you can maintain your voice for longer periods, even when there are more distractions.
