Let me prove that you can modify resonance

Hey there! As a trans voice teacher, I'm on a mission to show you that you have all the tools to love your voice. It's incredible how a simple exercise can demonstrate the power within you. Ready to explore this with me? Let’s dive in.

Take a moment, watch the minute-long video, and repeat after me.

Did you notice that in that quick transition from the 'E' sound to 'A,' you effectively altered the shape and size of your vocal tract? This subtle change modifies the resonance, the quality that makes that single pitch unique. This exercise hints at an essential aspect of voice control that you might not have realized you possess—resonance.

Resonance isn't just about sound; it's about the character, timbre, and depth of our voice. And guess what? Controlling resonance is a skill we all naturally possess because it's fundamental to how we differentiate vowels when we speak. What's even more fascinating is that resonance happens to be one of the most gendered aspects of our voice.

Consider this: If I say the same line at a consistent pitch but adjust the resonance configurations, you can easily perceive the difference. Watch the end of video where I say "Hi, I'm Renée" on one pitch with three different resonances.

This exercise unveils a glimpse of the incredible control you already have over the resonance of your voice. It’s something we all use effortlessly in our everyday communication, yet perhaps haven't consciously recognized until now. This understanding is a crucial step toward unlocking your full potential in vocal expression and embracing the possibilities of your voice. Recognizing and controlling resonance can significantly impact how your voice is perceived and how you feel about it.

As a trans voice educator, I'm passionate about sharing insights and techniques to help individuals explore, understand, and ultimately love their voices. There's a myriad of possibilities when it comes to voice modulation and self-expression. It's about uncovering the diversity and uniqueness within ourselves and learning how to use it confidently.

This quick exercise is just the tip of the iceberg. Exploring the intricacies of resonance and voice control is an exciting journey, especially for those looking to explore and affirm their gender expression through their voice. Recognizing the influence of resonance and learning to manipulate it provides a powerful tool for anyone seeking to align their voice with their authentic self.

Understanding resonance can be liberating. It allows you to navigate and consciously choose the way you express yourself through your voice, whether you want to use this quality for masculinizing or feminizing your voice. It’s not just about altering the sound; it’s about finding comfort and euphoria in your own voice, regardless of societal expectations or standards.

The journey towards embracing your voice involves acknowledging its nuances, understanding its power, and celebrating its uniqueness. By acknowledging and exploring your abilities, you can empower yourself to truly appreciate and embrace your voice.

So, if you found this exercise intriguing and eye-opening, there's so much more to explore and learn. You can check out more videos on my blog, my freebies, or check out my courses!

In conclusion, I hope this exercise shed light on the power you hold within your voice and the ability to manipulate resonance. Your voice is incredible and capable of expressing the most authentic version of yourself. Let’s continue to explore, learn, and celebrate the beauty and diversity of our voices together.
