Advice from Nonbinary People About Voice and Gender (Part 1)

The journey of self-discovery often involves exploring the essence of who we are through various aspects of our identity. One of the most powerful mediums through which we express ourselves is our voice. That's why I'm thrilled to announce my latest course, Mix & Match: Designing Your Nonbinary Voice, launching on May 1st.

As part of the preparations for this course, I had conversations with 14 incredible nonbinary individuals who have shared their experiences and insights to help others navigate this personal journey.

The Power of Individuality in Voice

Kacee, one of the participants, shared a piece of advice that resonated deeply with me. They emphasized the importance of not conforming to someone else's expectations or examples. "You know, we're all individuals. We all have our own voices," Kacee noted. It's crucial to find joy in the little wins and to focus on your own experiences rather than constantly comparing yourself to others.

Discover the Unexpected

Blu's thoughts about the potential of voice training struck a chord as well. They pointed out how voice training and breathwork can unlock capabilities in your voice that you might not have realized were possible. Spending just 15 or 20 minutes on an exercise can lead to surprising results, helping you sound in ways you never expected.

Explore and Express

Sergio encouraged everyone to explore. "Explore what you can say, explore what you can express," they advised. This exploration isn't just about finding your voice but also about using it as a manifestation of your true self, in whatever form that may be.

Experimentation and Fun

Maartje highlighted the fun in experimentation. They shared how intriguing it is to try different vocal expressions and see how they align with your inner identity.

Early Bird Opportunity

As we count down to the launch of Mix & Match: Designing Your Nonbinary Voice, I invite you to take advantage of an early bird discount available until the course begins. This is more than just a learning experience; it's an opportunity to engage with your identity, to play with the elements of your voice, and to ultimately express who you are in the most genuine way possible.

This course is designed not just to teach but to inspire and empower. Whether you are just starting to explore your voice or looking to refine it, "Mix & Match" offers tools, techniques, and the collective wisdom of many who are on this journey with you. Remember, in the realm of voice and identity, there are no fixed rules—only the endless possibilities of what you can create.
