Happy Pronouns Day!!

Happy Pronouns Day!!

Today is International Pronouns Day! You are probably familiar with she/her, he/him, and maybe even they/them (if you're here, I assume you know my pronouns hehe) but there is a whole wide world of pronouns out there. If you have never taken a minute to consider what pronouns fit you best, let me have the privilege of introducing you to some lesser-known pronouns.

1. xe/xem and ze/hir

Pronounced "zee/zem" and "zee/hee-er", these pronouns have been around for decades! Before they/them had been popularly adopted as a singular neutral and alternative to she/her and he/him, non-binary people of generations past had been using xe/xem and ze/hir. Both pronouns (and in fact, all the pronouns in this list) are designed to be easily used in the same way you would naturally use she/her, he/him, or they/them.

2. ey/em

Pronounced just like they/them without the "th", these pronouns are a little newer than the ones from the last section. Sometimes people don't like using they/them because they can't shake the plural association (although if that's you, I would challenge you to look up the original use of "you" and "thou"). Ey/em has the advantage of being used just like they/them but there's no plural association whatsoever.

3. thee/thim

Thee/thim/ther is probably my favourite on this list. Honestly, I'm thinking about using these pronouns for myself because I just love them so much. These pronouns are a combination of she/they (thee), them/him (thim), and their/her (ther). I love these pronouns because they feel so full of gender rather than neutral or lacking gender - and that better reflects who I am!
