My Top Surgery Results After One Year

Top Surgery Results, One Year Post-Op

Can you believe it’s been a year since I had top surgery??

One year ago, I had a double mastectomy without nipple grafts at GRS Montreal with Dr. Chen Lee, and it went super smoothly. I was very lucky!

Now it’s been a year, and I’m finally allowed to go shirtless in the sun!! Are you ready to see what my scars look like one year later?

Check out the video below!

I did basically no scar care. Sometimes, I moisturize, but I never used scar strips or did any scar massage and that’s because I really love my scars and reducing their visibility has never been important to me. Also, my surgeon didn't recommend it. But everyone's experience is different!

Here are the changes I’ve noticed:

  • The redness has decreased a lot. Some parts of the scar are thin and white, and others are thicker and more pink.
  • The skin around the incision has all smoothed out, and I have complete range of motion now.
  • I’ve regained a lot of feeling on my chest, but around the scars under my arms, I’m still numb in some spots.

So overall, I’m elated with my results. Every day, I’m excited to get dressed, and I love the body I have. I have absolutely no regrets! I don’t even wish that I had done it sooner because, in the story of my life, my top surgery came at exactly the right time.

So that’s the top surgery update. If you have any questions, I would be more than happy to answer them. Just send me an email!

Also, if you want to know how the first eight weeks of my recovery went, I recorded a little convalescence vlog that you can access for pay-what-you-can here (all proceeds from the sale of this go towards the top surgery funds of other trans folks).

Thanks for following along with me on this adventure!
